SOME SIMPLE IDEAS TO HOST A SUCCESSFUL EVENT:
1. Notify your group: We will give you the basic materials to download and we will contact local newspapers, radio stations, community bulletin boards and Chambers of Commerce with your dates and event news, but you should as well. Social Media can be extremely helpful in making your event a success.
2. Venue: Look for partners in your community who could donate a church, community center, corporate building or hotel conference center.
3. Spread the word: I told two friends, they told two friends , and they told..., plus, we have you covered (see #1). Use your email, website and all local community minded shops and stores to put up posters (we provide the poster art)
4. Volunteers: People want to help. Just ask each person to do one job only. Many hands make light work! Lots of retirees are eager to help with events as the one time job makes it easy to fit into their schedules.
5. Collections: Need someone to handle the finances? If your organization does not have a treasurer, then ask your organization's bank to volunteer or offer an employee volunteer. Many businesses encourage and even reward their staff members for volunteer work.
6. Clean up: This is a great one for the younger set like Boy Scouts, Girls Inc., Boys & Girls Club or your own organization's youth group.
